Planning Permission for a Westminster Icon

Alex Scott-Whitby June 14, 2019

Westminster Council has granted planning permission for a significant programme of improvements to Grade II listed Westminster Chapel, the little known ‘sister’ of the quartet of significant religious building in Westminster which includes the Abbey, Cathedral and Methodist Central Hall.

ScottWhitbyStudio spent 10-days in residency within the building, working closely with the congregation to understand how the building operated during its weekly cycle and identifying where improvements were required. The proposals address the issues of visibility, accessibility and functionality.

The Studio is now developing the proposals with a view to starting on site in the new year.
